Tikchik Narrows Lodge Location
Best State and National Parks in Alaska
Tikchik Narrows Lodge is nestled within the stunning Wood Tikchik State Park, the largest state park in the United States, covering over 1.6 million acres of wild and untouched nature. Its spectacular beauty and pristine ecosystem rivals the best national parks and protected wildernesses in America.
This remote sanctuary is renowned for its unparalleled fishing opportunities, breathtaking scenery, and wildlife, making it a true paradise for outdoor enthusiasts. Unlike most Alaskan lodges, Tikchik Narrows Lodge is completely isolated—accessible only by float plane and over 300 miles from the nearest road system. Our only neighbors are the abundant fish and wildlife.
Greater Bristol Bay
The greater Bristol Bay region is famous for its exceptional fishing, and the Nushagak River drainage stands out as one of the most prolific. We regularly enjoy healthy runs of King and Silver Salmon, along with record-breaking Sockeye and Chum returns, making for a truly robust and productive fishery throughout the river system.
With access to this river, we fish in some of the most untouched, pristine waters in Alaska, offering anglers the opportunity to target up to 10 different species throughout the season. Known for its abundant fish populations, the Nushagak provides a diverse range of fishing experiences, from dry fly fishing to conventional spin gear. We have semi-exclusive access to some of the best spots on the river, including a unique safari outcamp on one of the most remote sections of the entire drainage, ensuring a unforgettable experience of solitude for our guests.
Wood Tikchik
Located within Wood-Tikchik State Park—the largest state park in the United States—Tikchik Narrows Lodge sits at the heart of some of the region's most abundant fisheries. With easy access to a variety of productive waters, our lodge offers spectacular fishing opportunities right from the docks.
The Wood-Tikchik State Park features a remarkable network of lakes, rivers, and rugged mountains, providing endless opportunities for exploration and adventure. Located just a short flight from Dillingham, guests can easily access the area while enjoying breathtaking views of the untamed landscape. The lodge is also in close proximity to the Togiak National Wildlife Refuge, renowned for its incredible wildlife, including grizzly bears, walrus, moose and much more. Our unique location allows Tikchik guests to immerse themselves in the natural beauty and diverse ecosystems of southwest Alaska.
Katmai National Park
Embark on an unforgettable adventure with flightseeing tours over the Valley of 10,000 Smokes in Katmai National Park. This unique volcanic landscape, shaped by catastrophic eruptions in the early 20th century, offers stunning views of fumaroles, steam vents, and vast ash fields.
Combine this flightseeing adventure with an exhilarating bear viewing experience at Brooks Falls, where you can observe brown bears fishing in the river as salmon leap through the air. The remote and rugged setting of Katmai provides an unmatched opportunity to witness the raw beauty of wild Alaska.
Togiak National Wildlife Refuge
The Togiak National Wildlife Refuge is one of Bristol Bay's lesser known headwater regions. The refuge encompasses over 4-million acres and is full of productive salmon rivers and an expansive tundra ecosystem home to diverse wildlife.
Thanks to our permits with Togiak National Wildlife Refuge, we enjoy semi-exclusive access to the Kulukak River, a remote gem perfect for fly fishing King, Chum, and Silver Salmon. Additionally, we have another permit that grants us semi-exclusive access to Kashiak Creek on the Togiak River, where only one other guide boat can fish. This stretch is particularly noteworthy as it serves as the first holding water upriver for Silver Salmon.
